Union Publishes Environmental Pack
23/05/2008
The Planet's Future is a crucial topic of discussion - amongst Christians, like everyone else.
"We have a duty as Churches to discuss environmental issues in the light of God's Word" says the Revd Gareth Morgan Jones, Chairman of the Union's Citizenship Department, in the introduction to the Pack, which has been sent to every chapel.
This is a colourful and useful pack - based on solid scriptural and scientific authority - dealing with contemporary ecological themes from a lively Christian viewpoint. It presents devotional material for church services, side-by-side with advice on how to recycle everything from mobile phones to spectacles and old shoes.
As we hasten towards the end of the first decade of the 21st century, it's becoming clear that this will be a crucial century for the future of our world. We must, through prayer and action, face great challenges that will arise from our relationship with God's green earth. Losing sight of God's presence in nature would be disastrous.
