Welsh in Health and Care Services

15/04/2012

The Welsh Government wants to strengthen Welsh language services in health, social services and care, for the benefit of patients and their families.

They say that the onus should be on health and social services to ask Welsh speakers if they prefer to use the language; for example, in words of comfort and in discussing assessment, care and treatment options.

The Union of Welsh Independents has been actively campaigning on this issue for several years. Now, it is important that we, as individuals, churches and Associations, respond to the consultation.

The details and form are on the Assembly website:

 wales.gov.uk/consultations/healthsocialcare/words/?skip=1&lang=en

Time is short! The consultation period ends on April 30. So, if you have not responded already, please do so now.
