Second Term for Dr Geraint Tudur

18/07/2012

The Revd Dr Geraint Tudur has accepted the Union of Welsh Independents’ invitation to be their General Secretary for a further term of seven years.

"I resolve to do my utmost in the service of the Gospel and in the work of the Union, and to suDr Geraint Tudurpport our ministers, churches and Associations," said Dr Tudur. "With so much work to be done, it’s important that we all pull together, as Union staff, as officers, as ministers, and as Christians in general. Christian testimony is going to be more important in the coming years than it has been at any other time in our lives."

A native of Bangor, the Revd Dr Geraint Tudur spent sixteen years as minister of Ebeneser Church, Cardiff, before moving in 1994 to the University of Wales, Bangor, to teach church history. After twelve years in that post, he was elected General Secretary of the Union of Welsh Independents in 2006. From 2013-17, Dr Tudur will be President of the World Association of Independents.

It’s the General Secretary’s responsibility to provide leadership and motivation, and activity promote all Union policies including those relating to mission. He also provides pastoral care to the Associations, the churches and ministers. He represents the Union locally, nationally and internationally, and maintains regular contact with his counterparts in other denominations.
