The Churches

Each church is located within the geographical boundaries of one of 16 Associations - 14 in Wales and 2 in England.

[For church details see under Associations - on the left.]

Traditionally, Associations meet every quarter, but now less often in many instances. Strictly speaking, they are not Associations of churches but of Congregationalists within that area, since they do not usually represent the churches nor detract from the independence of the churches.

The Associations discuss matters of general importance, topics of social, educational, devotional and mission interest. They form an important link between the Union and the churches, and at their best promote effectively different campaigns : the South Africa Appeal and the Independents' Development Programme, for instance.

A number of the items that form the Council’s agenda emanate from discussions within the Associations. They accomplish important work in disseminating information and promotion of the resources and opportunities available to churches.
