As a result of heavy rains and flooding in the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, we were shocked to learn that a large landslide has occurred this week at Akany Avoko Faravohitra, the centre for vulnerable girls supported by UWI and MfM.

The centre provides a safe haven for girls and young women, who have experienced tremendous hardship during their young lives.

With support from donors such as UWI and MfM, AAF works with the girls to access education and training, and rebuild their lives.

An urgent effort is underway to make essential repairs to the retaining wall of the centre and reinforce defences, to prevent further damage and flooding.

The safety of the 80 girls that call AAF home is of utmost importance. It will cost £2000 to rebuild the retaining wall and make the site safe.

Donations of all sizes would be hugely welcome, as we work to support our partners at AAF at this moment of crisis.
