Join online for an inspiring talk by Nerys Siddall as she explores the remarkable story of Mary Jones – the young Welsh girl who, in 1800, walked over twenty miles barefoot to buy a Welsh Bible. Her extraordinary determination became one of Wales’s most powerful stories of faith and helped inspire the founding of the Bible Society.
This session will explore themes of perseverance, resilience, literacy, faith, and social impact. Mary’s story resonates strongly today and offers rich connections to the Curriculum for Wales, especially in relation to cynefin, ethical and informed citizenship, historical understanding, and the transformative power of education.
It is a powerful, accessible story for all ages and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a Welsh woman whose legacy continues to shape generations.
